Last weekend – on a absolutely beautiful day in Hartford Connecticut – Cindy and Anthony were married at The Old State House, a historical venue that I had heard about but never had the chance to shoot at. (part of the Amistad trail was held here, and it houses an original painting of George Washington as well!) I met up with Cindy at the Marriott downtown to catch some shots of her getting all gussied up courtesy of Jennie Fresa , as well as some shots of the terrific flowers by Elizabeth from Blush Studio. Since the wedding party were the kids, it was really fun having them all hanging out (always good for photo ops…) and to see how excited they were to be such a special part of the day–
What was most interesting about the day was that this was a second marriage for both Cindy and Anthony, and what the day was almost MORE about than the couple getting married was a joining of the families. Both sides coming together as one. With 2 children respectively from each side, the kids were a vital part of the ceremony. Each got up individually and spoke a little about their parents (which they all wrote themselves!!! Believe me, I could NOT have done that at their age, as I could BARELY handle it now!…) When you’re at 30 or so weddings a year, it’s honestly not often a ceremony moves me – but this one really took the cake. Between the sincere words from the kids as well as the free flowing tears, it was really something. It’s so great when a ceremony has such meaning and feeling, and not just regurgitated words and passages (no offense everybody but like I said, i’ve been to a TON of weddings!) There was even a special ring exchange between Cindy, Tony and the kids, where the children all received their very own ‘wedding’ rings…something I have never seen that was incredibly special.
Cindy wore a killer open-backed, slinky dress from White Dress By The Shore, Chief Idealist Miss Candice from Jubilee Events was on hand for the planning and coordinating, Mr. Jim Alteri of Vintage Cinema wielded his mighty video camera, and one of my favorite caterers A Thyme To Cook wrapped things up in a delicious bundle of food–
…take a peek and hope you enjoy! Thanks to everyone involved for a really great start to the wedding season… we’re off and rolling
